The E0804S is a 4-way consumer unit fitted with a 100A double-pole main switch isolator and an integrated Type 2 Surge Protection Device (SPD), providing both local isolation and transient overvoltage protection for domestic and small commercial electrical installations. The built-in SPD meets the requirements of BS 7671 (18th Edition) Amendment 2, which mandates surge protection where the cost of the SPD is not disproportionate to the value of the equipment being protected — effectively making it standard practice for most new installations and consumer unit upgrades.

With 4 usable ways and a factory-fitted Type 2 SPD, this consumer unit saves installation time and board space by eliminating the need for a separate SPD module. Installation Notes

This consumer unit must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations). Always isolate the supply before installation. The integrated Type 2 SPD provides protection against transient overvoltages without requiring a separate SPD module or additional board space. The SPD status indicator should be checked periodically — a red indicator means the SPD has reached end of life and requires replacement. The installer must specify and fit appropriate outgoing protection devices (MCBs, RCBOs or RCD + MCB combinations) to suit the circuits being supplied. Mount the consumer unit on a flat, non-combustible surface at a height between 450mm and 1350mm from finished floor level (Part M accessibility requirements). Ensure all unused ways are fitted with blanking modules to maintain the enclosure IP rating.
