The DGL2-B-EV is a Type B Residual Current Device (RCD) specifically engineered for electric vehicle (EV) charging installations. Type B RCDs provide the highest level of earth leakage protection by detecting AC sinusoidal, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual currents — covering all fault types that can occur in EV charger circuits using power electronic converters with DC charging components.
With integrated 6mA DC fault detection, this RCD satisfies the requirements of BS 7671 (18th Edition) and IEC 62955 for EV charging circuits without the need for a separate external DC detection device. Available in 2-pole and 4-pole configurations with 25A, 40A and 63A current ratings, it is designed for both single-phase and three-phase EV charger installations. Manufactured to IEC/EN 62423 and designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting, it is compatible with all consumer units and EV charging distribution boards.

Installation Notes
This Type B RCD must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition). Always isolate the supply before installation. Regulation 722.531.3.101 requires DC fault current protection on EV charging circuits — this Type B RCD with integrated 6mA DC detection fulfils this requirement without additional modules. The RCD must be protected upstream by an appropriately rated MCB or fuse. The test button should be operated at least quarterly.
