Description

RCBO 30mA Type A — 1P+N Residual Current Circuit Breaker

The DGB1NLE-A is a 1-pole + neutral (1P+N) Type A Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent Protection (RCBO), combining MCB and RCD functionality in a single compact module. This Type A RCBO detects both AC sinusoidal and pulsating DC residual currents — making it the preferred choice for modern domestic installations and a requirement under BS 7671 (18th Edition) Amendment 2 for circuits supplying EV chargers, heat pumps, solar inverters and equipment with electronic converters.

Available in current ratings from 6A to 40A at 30mA sensitivity, the DGB1NLE-A provides individual circuit protection without the risk of nuisance tripping on unrelated circuits. With a 6kA breaking capacity and Type C trip characteristic, it replaces the need for a separate MCB and RCD on each circuit. Manufactured to IEC/EN 61009-1, this RCBO is designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting and is compatible with all consumer units and distribution boards.

Key Features

  • Combined MCB + RCD in one device — overcurrent, short-circuit and earth leakage protection in a single module
  • Type A residual current detection — detects AC sinusoidal and pulsating DC earth leakage faults
  • Required by BS 7671 Amendment 2 for EV charger, heat pump and inverter circuits
  • 1P+N configuration — protects both line and neutral in a compact 2-module width
  • 30mA sensitivity — personal protection level on every individual circuit
  • Current ratings: 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 25A, 32A, 40A — covers all standard domestic circuit sizes
  • 6kA breaking capacity — meets BS 7671 requirements for typical domestic fault levels
  • Type C trip characteristic — suitable for general-purpose circuits and moderate inrush loads
  • Eliminates nuisance tripping — each circuit independently protected
  • Test button for periodic RCD functional testing
  • 35mm DIN rail mounting — fits all consumer units and standard distribution boards

Installation Notes

This RCBO must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition). Always isolate the supply before installation. The RCBO occupies 2 modules (36mm) on the DIN rail. Connect the line to the L terminal and the neutral to the N terminal. The neutral connection is essential for the RCD element to operate. The test button should be operated at least quarterly. For EV charging circuits, BS 7671 Regulation 722.531.3.101 requires Type A RCD protection as a minimum — this RCBO satisfies that requirement. For smooth DC fault protection, pair with a Type B RCD upstream or specify a Type B RCD instead.
