The EMGUMS616 is a pre-populated metal garage consumer unit supplied with a 100A main switch isolator, a 6A MCB and a 16A MCB factory-fitted and ready for immediate installation. This unit provides a convenient distribution solution for garage and outbuilding installations where a separate RCD or RCBO is specified for earth leakage protection, or where the supply is already protected upstream by an RCD at the main consumer unit.

Constructed from powder-coated galvanised steel with a lockable hinged door, the unit meets BS 7671 (18th Edition) requirements for metal consumer unit enclosures in domestic premises. The 100A main switch provides a local isolation point for the entire garage supply, while the pre-fitted 6A and 16A MCBs cover typical lighting and power circuit requirements. Additional ways are available for future circuit expansion.

Installation Notes

This consumer unit must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition). Always isolate the supply before installation. Note that this unit does not include an RCD — earth leakage protection must be provided either by fitting RCBOs on individual circuits or by ensuring the supply is protected upstream by an RCD at the main consumer unit. Mount the unit on a flat, non-combustible surface at a height between 450mm and 1350mm from finished floor level.
